More About our Electrical Program

What is Electrical?

The Electrical program at BTI prepares students for entry level careers within the electrical field such as Electrical and Electronics Installers and Repairers. Some of the duties may include:
  • Discuss problems and requirements with customers
  • Inspect and test equipment
  • Reproduce, isolate, and diagnose problems
  • Disassemble equipment as necessary to access problematic components
  • Clean, repair, and replace components
  • Reassemble and test equipment after repairs

What Skills are Required?

In this field, you will need to understand basic electrical-craft skills, tools, and materials, and how to read and understand structural schematics. Additional skills may be required depending on the position you are working in such as keeping records of repairs, tests, parts, and labor hours.

WHAT OUR STUDENTS HAVE TO SAY

“Hands-on is a great way to learn for myself because I remember better. At least that way you’re practicing what you’re going to be doing. You’re not just sitting in a classroom reading books and reading over what you’re going to be doing. You’re actually applying your skills so that way you know what you’re going to be doing in the field.”
