The Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Basic Refrigeration (HVAC/BR) program is designed to prepare students for an entry level position in residential and commercial air conditioning, heating, and basic refrigeration fields. Our classes combine theory with practical application of hands-on job skills in shop courses, where students will use a variety of common hand and specialty tools typically used on the job.
The HVAC/BR program curriculum is recognized by the National Center for Construction Education & Research (NCCER) and students can earn credentials issued by the NCCER. During the HVAC/BR program, students will be preparing to be ready to sit for the EPA section 608 certification.

To become an HVAC & Basic Refrigeration Technician, you must develop industry-specific skills, have knowledge of piping, wiring, troubleshooting, and be comfortable using power tools. In this field, you will need to understand basic HVAC/BR skills, tools, and materials. As well as an understanding of HVAC system design and electrical wiring. Additional skills may be required depending on the position you are working in such as keeping records of repairs, tests, parts, and labor hours.
