As a Medical Billing & Coder, you will be responsible for ensuring health information data is organized and managed, typically with the use of a computer. You will ensure the data maintained is accurate, accessible and secure. You will use various classification systems to code and categorize a patient’s information for the purpose of insurance reimbursement, database registry, and tracking of their medical and treatment history. As a Medical Billing & Coder, you will need to be able to focus on details and accuracy, be good at analysis, and have a strong moral code so that you are able to protect the patient’s confidential records. You will be required to sit for long periods of time and use a computer. Additional skills may be required depending on the position you are working in.
